Passing to Feet

Warm up:
Have players get into groups of two with one ball. The players will pass the ball and move. Restrict the space to the ability of the players and limit the number of touches.
Coaching points:
  • Pick your head up
  • Lock the ankle
  • Follow through with pass
  • Call for a pass from your partner

Passing by numbers
Number your players 1-11 or however many you have. The object is to pass the ball from player to player in number order. If you don’t have the ball make sure you are moving throughout the playing area. If you have a large number of players, you can start with two soccer balls, or you have two different groups going at once.   One variation is as the coach you call out the number and that player must check to find the ball to receive a pass.
·        Check to receive a pass
·        Call your number while moving into a space to receive the ball.
·        Pick you head up! Do not just pass the ball to the sound of your name.

Keep Away
Split up into two teams to play a game of possession. Start with unlimited touches and then start to put restrictions on certain players. For example, three touch, 2 touches, and one touch, about half way through change the game to a two touch maximum.
  • Keep the ball on the ground
  • Solid passes
  • First touch must be good
  • Look before you pass
  • Get off the ball quickly

Small sided Game
Keep the teams that you have for keep away but add two small goals on each side in the corners. The ball must be passed on the ground through the cones for a goal. This will work on having to defend multiple goals so the team must communicate to keep their shape.
